The 260th Regional Training Institute (RTI) is the D.C. National Guard's premier educational institution providing a professional learning environment, quality instruction, and training support. As the District of Columbia is a federal district and not a state, the DC National Guard, established in 1802, is placed under the authority of the President of the United States and is the only Guard with a Commanding General. Under development since 2011, the RTI is located at Fort Belvoir, Virginia astride the Potomac River.

The 260th trains future leaders through its Officers Candidate School and Warrant Officer Candidate School. It also provides technical education for Guardsmen from around the nation on a variety of programs, including truck driving, combat lifesaving, and a Common Faculty Development Instructor Course, among many other courses. The 260th RTI includes billeting for about 78 soldiers, dining facility, three classrooms, an auditorium, combat training equipment, Virtual Convoy Operations Training, and a Humvee escape training capability.

From its inception, MacDonald-Bedford (M-B) provided project management services for facilities renovation, repair, and maintenance under the auspices of the D.C. Guard’s Construction and Facilities Management Officer (CFMO). The M-B Engineer served as a liaison to the Fort’s Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation and the Directorate of Public Works. Our Engineer worked closely with activity managers and provided weekly and monthly progress reports identifying any issues with proposed action for resolution. M-B represented the CMO in integration meetings to provide technical information and analysis and worked with other project managers to maintain operations and minimize disruptions.
